The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)

USERRA protects the job rights of individuals who voluntarily or involuntarily leave employment positions to undertake military service or certain types of service in the National Disaster Medical System.  USERRA also prohibits employers from discriminating against past and present members of the uniformed services, and applicants to the uniformed services.

Team Member Responsibilities:

  •  FloridaOneDMAT Command Staff requires you to keep your employer informed and up to date of your status with the team.
  • You must be a member in good standing and current with all requirements for deployment.
  • You must maintain timely communications with the team command staff as warranted.
  • You must return to work with your primary employer as soon as the deployment is completed. (See Provisions for extended missions)
  • It is the DMAT Team Members responsibility to keep his/her employer informed as to deployment status/ ETA to return to work. (Please ensure that you have been given demobilization orders from FloridaOneDMAT Command Staff)

 

To the Employers:

FloridaOneDMAT Command Staff has a policy of working with employers to ensure a good working relationship. A typical deployment can last from a few hours up to 14 days, but we are unable to predict the length of time your employee will be called out for. We will ensure that it is the shortest amount as possible.  

FloridaOneDMAT Command Staff has a policy of not stripping resources from our local partners and employers. But we can foresee a request for multiple missions of our team.
